Sponsorship of Taiyo Oil Cup 34nd Nankai Broadcasting Company Limited Ladies' Badminton Tournament

2020.10.26

Taiyo Oil sponsored the Taiyo Oil Cup 34nd Nankai Broadcasting Company Limited Ladies’ Badminton Tournament, which was held on October 17 (Sat.), 2020 at the Ehime Prefectural Sports Complex Gymnasium in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this year’s tournament was held taking extensive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and these included taking body temperatures, constantly ventilating the gymnasium, having persons not playing a match wear a mask, and reducing the number of courts.

In the tournament, doubles teams were divided into four classes, A through D, according to their level. This year, there were many players who had not played a match against another team in a long time since many badminton competitions had to be canceled or postponed. Nevertheless, in spite of this, there were some intense matches in the various classes during the tournament, so the players did not seem quite as rusty as one might expect.

During the closing ceremony, awards were given consisting of the Taiyo Oil Cup, an award certificate, and an extra prize for the winning pair of each class, an award certificate and an extra prize for the second-place pairs, and a supplementary prize for the third-place pairs.

The finals of the A Class, the top level, is set to be broadcast on Nankai Broadcasting television on October 31 (Sat.).

Taiyo Oil will continue to support sports events of this kind in order to help promote healthy living among those in local communities.
