Cosponsorship of the 65th Yamaguchi Prefecture Primary School Pupils' Animal Drawing Contest

2019.12.06

The awards ceremony for the 65th Yamaguchi Prefecture Primary School Pupils’ Animal Drawing Contest, which was cosponsored by Taiyo Oil, was held in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi on November 23 (Saturday).
Primary school pupils in the prefecture were invited to submit drawings of animals from zoos in Yamaguchi: Akiyoshidai Safari Land in Mine City, Tokiwa Park in Ube City, and Tokuyama Zoo in Shunan City. The aim of the contest was to develop the sensibilities and expressiveness of children by having them observe and draw animals.
Out of the 1,605 entries this year, a total of 245 were awarded with prizes, consisting of 18 special prizes, 32 gold prizes, 68 silver prizes, and 127 honorable mentions. The winners of the special prizes, including the Taiyo Oil SOLATO Prize, were presented with certificates.
The drawing that won this year’s Taiyo Oil SOLATO Prize was made by Kaito Kikumoto, a pupil of Hoko Nursery School at Yanai City, Yamaguchi. His work featured a stunning depiction of an extremely large lion with a long, impressive mane.
Following the awards ceremony, the usual gathering was held and attended by the children who won prizes, together with their guardians and families. The brand mascot, Solato-kun, joined the celebration and greatly livened up the venue with quiz competitions and other games.
Taiyo Oil will continue to support projects that aim to bring up upstanding future leaders from today’s youth as part of its CSR activities.
