Taiyo Oil provides support for "31st Ehime Shimbun Primary School Book Report Contest"

2019.12.11

On Sunday, December 1st, the awards ceremony for the 31st Ehime Shimbun Primary School Book Report Contest, for which Taiyo Oil is a special cosponsor, was held at Tokyo Dai-ichi Hotel Matsuyama.
This year's contest attracted 26,018 entries from pupils at 118 primary schools in Ehime Prefecture as well as 11 individual-based entries, of which 1 was selected for Top Prize, 5 were selected for Special Prizes, 12 for Excellence Prizes, and 18 for Honorable Mentions: a total of 36 awards for which each winner received a certificate.
The most outstanding work chosen as the Top Prize winner (Taiyo Oil SOLATO Prize) is a work entitled “Is Envy a Bad Thing?” by fifth-grader Kaho Narita from Shikokuchuo Sangawa Elementary School. It is based on Narita’s thoughts on the book “Ayashi’s School Clinic” by Kako Someya. An excerpt from Kaho Narita’s work: “Whether you choose to nurture envy by being jealous of other people or to use it as inspiration for your efforts is up to you. I want to choose the path of perseverance”, she writes.
A gathering is held with the awarded children and their families after the awards ceremony. The brand mascot, Solato-kun, also made an appearance and created a lively mood with quizzes and other games.
Taiyo Oil will continue to support projects that aim to bring up upstanding future leaders from today’s youth as part of its CSR activities.
