Taiyo Oil Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yutaka Oka; hereafter “Taiyo Oil”) has invested in Kyoto University’s venture fund “Miyako Innovation 2nd Investment Limited Partnership” managed by Miyako Capital Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; President: Tetsushi Yamaguchi, Tsunesaburo Sugaya, and Hiroaki Okahashi; 
hereafter “Miyako Capital”).
 Miyako Capital is a private independent venture capital firm established in September 2013. Since receiving the mandate to manage the Kyoto University Venture Fund (KUVF) in December that year (1st round) and December this year (2nd round), the company has provided investment and hands-on support from its bases in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Silicon Valley in the United States to startups in Japan and overseas aiming to expand globally through cutting-edge technology seeds and business models.
 Through this investment, Taiyo Oil will actively seek to create new businesses through the promotion of partnership and collaboration with startup firms using Miyako Capital’s vast knowledge of R&D-oriented startups, investment experience and know-how, venture firm technologies, and trend information.
