Taiyo Oil provides support for GO-MIX! beach cleaning activities hosted by Nankai Broadcasting

2020.10.30

Taiyo Oil provided support for the GO-MIX! volunteer beach cleanup held by Nankai Broadcasting Co., Ltd., and approximately 129 volunteers participated in the cleaning activities.

This project involves linking beach cleaning activities in Ehime Prefecture with a two-hour long radio special that is broadcast live. A session was also scheduled for May this year, but it was canceled due to the impact of COVID-19, so the session on this occasion was the first one in about a year.

On this occasion, the cleaning activities were carried out at Baishinji Beach in Matsuyama City. There is an expansive view of this beach from Iyotetsu Baishinji Station, which is famous for being a filming location of “Tokyo Love Story,” a drama that once took the world by storm.

On this occasion, Hiromi Yano, an entertainer from Ehime Prefecture who serves as the face of the project, participated in the activities at the beach. Both the beach and radio program were brimming with excitement thanks to the onsite reports from Ms. Yano to the radio presenter Akira Isaka, who was at the Nankai Broadcasting studio, and the interviews with participants and so on.

Furthermore, Representative Director Iwata of EC Oceans, which carries out activities such as the collection of garbage that has drifted ashore at beaches, participated as a guest on this occasion. Mr. Iwata provided information regarding the status of marine garbage at the Seto Inland Sea, and tips on how to pick up microplastics, and thus not only the participants but also radio listeners were able to learn about the significance of the activities in terms of gaining insights regarding the importance of coastal cleanup efforts and ecosystem conservation.

Going forward, Taiyo Oil intends to continue activities like these in order to help with environmental-conservation initiatives in Ehime Prefecture where Shikoku Operations is located.
